I officially entered the business of I.T. after obtaining an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology in 1992. In 1995 my employers started CityNet, one of West Virginia’s first and largest local Internet Service Providers. While at CityNet I managed Web, FTP, Email and dialup servers, while providing technical support to many of the first people to enjoy dial-up Internet access at home and at work in West Virginia. While enduring the pains of a high-growth startup company, I learned far more about Internet technologies than I had realized, which proved to be invaluable to my future.
Over the next decade, I led large project roll-outs for several banks in the West Virginia region, which encompassed hundreds of workstations, servers and various financial applications. After spending time in the field, then in Executive Management, I started my own consulting firm and went on to co-found CPR Solutions Group (Now EHR Solutions)with my close friend and business partner Rob White, who has since also founded PatientLynk. CPR implemented and supported Electronic Health Records solutions to private practice physicians in the region and continues to prosper in the medical technology sector. My largest project to date was the C8 Health Project, which involved the collection of health and lab data on more than 69,000 participants.
Having grown the business to more than 25 employees, CPR became a successful business model that was truly started from the ground up. Since early 2009, I have worked as an independent consultant providing a variety of services to clients ranging from Business Process Analysis, I.T. Consulting, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning, Due Diligence, and other consulting services. I am certified as an Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) from DRI International. I also hold CompTIA Security+ and ITIL Foundations 3.0 certifications and obtained the designation of Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) in 1997, with my first Microsoft certification coming in 1995.
